About
About the artist
Alexandra Benaki graduated from the foundation course in Art & Design at Kent University in 1996 and studied Fine Art at Middlesex University, UK (1996-1999). The Frissiras Museum in Athens Greece bought her final art show which is part of the collection. With this important start, she returned to her hometown to do her first solo exhibition in 2002 at Agathi Gallery. Since then, Alexandra worked for two years in Marketing and Branding and then she created her own business. She gained her Coaching certificate from Kapodistrian University in Athens and did her CPD training (colour psycho dynamics).
From the beginning we feel the face transforming into a personality and at the same time, from seeing it as a form, returning to the face. A transition, between the eternal and the everyday, within the same work. Two concepts, the simple and the sublime, which converge. What is beautiful about Alexandra Benaki’s art?
The detailed recording of all the features of the face, and the time she spends, looking carefully, studying and capturing even the roughest line. The privilege of this “exclusive attention” is what the viewer envies. He deeply desires to become the subject matter of the artist, as he wishes to become the sitter and his psyche to be carefully studied.
Her art mediums include dry pastels, drawing pens, and crayons. Artworks sold in Europe and Dubai. She lives and works in Nea Erythraia, Greece.
